Termite Infestation detections

Termite Control

Termite Infestation detections

1. Challenging task.
2. Termites live in dark, humid, and protected environments.
3. Mud tubes/shelter tubes on the wall: Subterranean termites are usually found on exterior and interior walls leading up to the entry points of the building.
4. Sightings of termite swarmers or discarded winge - The first sign of Infestation is the presence of swarmers or alates/shed wings.
5. Papery or hollow-sounding timber - Termites consume woods from the inside out, leaving a thin veneer of timber or paint. So when you knock or tap, it will sound hollow or papery.
6. Tight fitting door or hard open window -Mud tubes trap the heat and moisture, causing the timber to swell, making it harder to open or close Tunnels/galleries in the wood.
7. Termite droppings -Faecal mounds found beneath the infested wood.

1. No shelter tube
2. Timber appearance vary with eat across the grains
3. Series of galleries or chambers connected by tunnels with smooth walls like finely sandpaper.
4. No soil in galleries
5. Faecal pellets stick to the gallery wall but appear like soil

1. Difficult to detect, live deep inside the wood except during swarming/repair of home
2. Colony smaller (2000 individuals), widely dispersed, take years to mature.
3. Visual observation: feeding damage, shed wings, fecal pellets (hexagonal), kick-out holes
4. Active infestation detection: Clean fecal pellets near the kick-out hole and observe fresh pellets or other odor detect devices/sensors.

Foundation cracks: Moisture will attract termites. Once gain entry, consume sources of cellulose like timber structures, floorboards, and wooden furniture.
Debris around the home: overgrown plants, stored goods, or trash near or against your home are a food source for termites.
Moisture zone: A hot water system and air conditioner provide a moist environment that is very attractive to termites.
Broken roof tiles: provide a source of moisture, which makes them more appealing to termites.
Leaking downpipes: source of moisture, Water supply if the water system overflows, termites may be attracted to the moisture.
